Going to Edinburgh just after New Year seems to be becoming a, very much welcomed, tradition. Now I have a friend that lives there we had some insider knowledge on where was best to go for a few drinks and it’d just be rude to not try them all out. Here are my top 3:
3) Boozy Cow
Boozy Cow and its imaginative range of cocktails can be found on Frederick Street and is open until 1am every night. Expect cocktails with a little something extra, whether it be the fly saucer and lollypop that top the Twizzler, or the frazzle crisps that accompany the Bacon Maple Old Fashioned. It’s also a restaurant serving burgers and hot dogs and the food that was passing over our head looked so good we came back the next day for lunch. It did not disappoint!
2) Panda and Sons
Have you ever wanted to have a drink in a prohibition style speak-easy that also resembles an old fashioned barber’s shop? Well luckily for you, you can at Panda and Sons! The décor is pretty special and the cocktails contain some weird and wonderful ingredients, such as apple pie compote, which just adds to the unique style of the bar. If cocktails aren’t your thing (why are you reading this posts?) then try one of their craft beers or take a look at the extensive wine list.
1) Bramble
The fact that I’d already heard of Bramble before going there suggested that it was going to be something pretty special. Hidden down some stairs in a basement of a sewing shop, the bar was a little tricky to find, but definitely worth the struggle. It’s full of secret little nooks filled with cushions and sofas so you don’t even have to deal with other people while you enjoy their incredible drinks. They also have waiters that come and take your order so there’s not even any need to have the argument about who’s turn it is to go to the bar. Ideal.
What’s your favourite cocktail bar in Edinburgh?
