In a small, unassuming town, sitting on the edge of Arizona, lies some of the most famous geological sites in America. You may never have heard of Page but I guarantee you will have seen it before! You may have even had it on your screensaver! This little town is definitely worth a stop of your South West road trip so here’s some advice on how to spend 24 hours in Page, Arizona.
Morning: Antelope Canyon
Antelope Canyon is one of the most famous slot canyons in the world (mainly due to that Windows screensaver, let’s be honest). The only way to visit is on a tour with a local guide and you have the choice between the lower and upper canyon. The experiences are both very similar, although the upper canyon is probably the one you’ve seen the most photos of. The lack of light and masses of people in the canyon makes it very hard to take good quality photos so if that’s a priority for you, it may be worth splashing out on a photography tour which will give you longer down there and more space to set up your tripod and get shooting properly (I wish we did this!).
Top Tip: Be aware when booking a tour that the time zones are very confusing. Arizona doesn’t observe daylight savings, however, Utah does, as do the Navajo Reservations, so Page is often an hour behind the surrounding area. Just be sure to check whether your tour start time is Page time or Reservation time when you book!
Afternoon: Lake Powell
I had no idea Lake Powell existed when I arrived in Page and was ready for a relaxing afternoon doing nothing in the AirBnb, but the lady we were staying with suggested we go down to the lake to experience what a summer day is like for a local. The lake is man-made, created by flooding a canyon and now is the perfect place to spend a lazy afternoon.
Take a picnic, some beach games and a swimsuit to really make the most of your afternoon by the lake! If you’re feeling really fancy, you can even rent a boat for the afternoon and head out on the water!

Evening: Horseshoe Bend
An Instagrammer’s favourite, Horseshoe Bend is perfect for watching the sunset. The sun drops perfectly behind the bend, casting the whole landscape in an orange glow. Be sure to get there around an hour before the sun is due to set as it’s a short walk from the car park and you want to be sure to secure a good viewing spot before it gets too crowded!
So there you have the perfect day in Page, Arizona! Of course you can hang around town a little longer, perhaps spend a whole day at the lake or tour both the upper and lower slot canyons! Do you have any more recommendations? Let me know in the comments!
